The
Earth’s Day: Academic Civitas of Social and Political Sciences Jenderal
Soedirman University to Keep an Earth.

Earth day is an annual
event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to
demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in
1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day and celebrated in more
than 192 countries each year. The first celebrated of earth day in March 21,1970. A mounth later a separate
Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an
environmental teach-in first held on April 22,1970. The Earth’s day is a day of
action which changes human behavior and provokes policy changes. Therefore, the
academic civitas society of Social and Political Sciences Jenderal Soedirman
University which have a responbility to save, maintain and preserve the
environment on campus. BEM of Social and political Sciences Jenderal Soedirman
University will be held an activity to clean campus environment. The purpose of
activity is encouraging awareness to environment damage. The follow up of
activity are several sides such as, students,lecturers and staff.
The theme of this
activity is a day without cleaning service (no cleaning service day). Which on
that day there is no one cleaning service in campus. Therefore, the follow up
have to make environment clean and do not throw rubbish in everywhere. Mr.Dr. Ali Rokhman, M.Si is a dean of
Social and Political Sciences Jenderal
Soedirman University who appreciate and receive “no cleaning service day”
activity. And he ask to all society of Social and Political faculty to
participate “no cleaning service day”. He said “the demage of environment
because of human behavior and make some effects like flood, landslide,
forest fire,etc.” Human experienced those effects. The Climate change is very
hard to prevented and anticipated. The one way of this problem is make human do
not demage nature but make them to protect and care with environment. Dean of
Social and Political Sciences Jendral Soedirman University wishing, the Earth’s
Day can be a beginning to rise awareness with environmental sustainability in
future time. “This can be done by keeping the environment clean by not
discarding litter, we can start from the smallest things from ourselves.
